In Principio - Robert Steadman
Robert Steadman read music at Keble College, Oxford and has composed a wide range of music including 3 symphonies, operas and musicals to pieces for brass band, chamber
ensembles and many works for choir.
Nearly 10 years ago Julia Mills asked Robert to compose a work for solo saxophone(s) with choir and orchestra - 'IN PRINCIPIO' is the result. It was premiered in
Wakefield Cathedral in October 2016 and was directed by Thomas Moore who, at that time, was Director of Music at the Cathedral. The piece is in 7 movements - based
upon the 7 days of the biblical creation.
